THISBE

Tonight I am feeling very sad about Thisbe. I was reading a book called 'Cat on the Hill' and I got a bit teary. It's a good book, you should read it. It has very lovely pictures.

Anyway, Thisbe is in cat heaven now, and I hope she is very happy. Here are some of my favourite Thisbe memories:

Thisbe getting high on catnip, and also finding Thisbe hair all over my catnip plant all the time (she moulted endlessly).

Thisbe being the only cat I have ever known who likes having her belly rubbed like a dog.

Thisbe's constant meow which went a bit like this: "Reh, reh, reh".

Going tri-weekly into the nice butcher's shop and the nice butcher seeing me and saying "A cat sized handful of mince?"

The time there was a mean new cat in town and it kept trying to beat up Mimu, and one night Thisbe and I were in bed and we heard a terrible fight, and Thisbe immediately ran out the door to protect Mimu! Even though Thisbe hated Mimu! And even though Thisbe had no teeth, and blunt claws! It was so amazing and so worrying at the same time.

Thisbe always waiting on the driveway when I got home from work (I think more than anything else this was because it was warm and sunny at that time of day, and because I was the person who fed her, but it was still always so nice).

The strange positions she used to sleep in (see above).

How she used to sit like a beautiful statue and stare at me.

Thisbe was a very special lady, and I miss her so very much.
